After laboratory testing, the panles will be tested on different demonstration sites, taking into account different weather conditions. The chosen buildings and their location are listed below
Real Case Studies
Pilot house, CNR Research Area, Padua (Italy).
This one floor house of 65 m2 has 4 main rooms and sanitary facilities. It is available to test all the new materials and solutions (innovative external and internal panels and radiant system) in a controlled situation before the demonstration in the real case studies, in order to identify preventively possible difficulties during the installation phase. A devoted and complete monitoring system will permit to evaluate the performance of the innovative solutions individually but also synergically.
Old City Hall of Municipality Varis – Voulas – Vouliagmenis, Athens (Greece)
The old City Hall was built in the beginning of the 1960 decade. It has got 2 floors 270 m2 each. The walls are built with in situ reinforced concrete and solid brick. This building is a historical landmark for the area as a typical post WWII modern architecture building. It was used as a City hall of Vouliagmenis until 2011 and now it serves community agencies.
Residential Eco-House Putte, Mechelen (Belgium)
It’s a Residential Eco-house in BelgiumNorth/central climatic zone. It’s a single family home out of two stories with a total surface area of 170 m2. The structurale frame is made of wood, walls are composed by straw bales of 35 cm thickness. It’z a NZEB building. Solar panels and PV panels are installed in the roof. The heating and the cooling is performed by a geotherma plant with a water-water high pump. A real refurbishment will be performed. The focus in this state will be the application of the eco-friendly radiating panels for wall and/or ceiling.
Don Orione Residential Care Center, Voluntari (Bucharest), Romania
Don Orione Association started the activity in 1994 in Bucharest and offers a large range of services through the Residential Care Center located in Voluntari which is destinated to children, young people and old people.

Four buildings (historical and existing) will be the subject to verify virtually other refurbishment realities to show other examples of application including to historical buildings.
Private house, Piazzola sul Brenta (Padua), Italy
Apartment inside the “Chiostro delle Vergini” (the Virgins’ Cloister) of the XVII century. It is a mansard of 100 m2 located at the second floor of the cloister.
House in the settlement of Parikia in Paros, Greece
This house was built in the beginning of 20th century and is located in the traditional settlement of Pairikia in Paros, Greece. It is a typical two storied (ground and first floor) Cycladic architecture house with an interior courtyard and backyard. It consists of three separate buildings that lay around the interior courtyard. The total area of the buildings is 150m2 and the walls are built with stones and mortar.
Historical Residential Building, Bucharest, Romania
The historical building is located in the center of Bucharest, B category and has a unique architecture and design.
Two blocks in Txurdinaga neighborhood, Bilbao, Spain
It is formed by two square shape blocks with an inner quad from where the entrance to the houses is done. One of the buildings has 100 dwellings while the other one has 97; there are about 1200 m2 destined to commercial activities in each. Its construction, using reinforced concrete and ceramic bricks, ended in 1992.
