Compared to resin bonded particleboards, wood-geopolymer panels have better resistance to fire as well as lower VOC emissions.

Compared to cement bonded particleboards, wood-geopolymer panels are more rapidly setting and more tolerant to different wood species, allowing faster production and use of a wider spectrum of wood sources

Description

Wood-geopolymer panels in size 59.5 x 59.5 cm2 and thickness 12 mm have been produced using 40% weight of wood CDW from softwood derived from pallets. The density of this wood-geopolymer material is ca 1300 kg/m3.

Reaction to fire tests showed that panels can be classified as class B.

Panels can be drilled and machined with common tools.
